Sweater Disaster

My current nemesis is the Aran Pullover from Knitting with Balls: A Hands-On Guide to Knitting for the Modern Man. I started this last year for my husband. I finished the front and stopped given I was side-tracked by many new arrivals for my friends' babies. I completed the front last winter.

Well, I started the back with renewed fervor. I finished the back and then I got to the sleeves. Ugh, the sleeves. I was increasing so often that it looked like a shawl (see below). I reread the pattern, again, and again. I checked out Ravelry and e-mailed the author. Not left with much of a solution other than check the gauge, I rewrote the sleeves. I cannot tell you how many times I have pulled these out.

Then, I got to almost the end of sleeve one and I ran out of yarn. So, I now have several new balls of yarn from Knit Picks. I am just finishing up some holiday presents and I will finish the sleeves. I am a bit disappointed Andrew won't be getting this by Christmas but I hope to have it done soon.

  1. Despite the "disaster" I must say that I'm very impressed with the detail of your work. How long have you been knitting? Do you teach beginners?!!!

  2. I've been knitting about 5 1/2 years. I most certainly teach beginners - Girl Scout troops even. :)
